Those pop-ups usually keep coming because something related to TotalAV is still starting with Windows, a browser extension is still installed, or a leftover notification permission or scheduled task is triggering ads. Start by checking what still launches at startup. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc, open the Startup tab, and disable anything related to TotalAV, Total Security, PC Protect, or anything unfamiliar that appeared around the same time you installed it. Then restart your PC and see if the pop-ups stop.

Next check installed apps again because TotalAV sometimes leaves companion components. Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps and remove anything named TotalAV, Total Adblock, SafeBrowsing, Search or similar security utilities you don’t recognize. After uninstalling, restart Windows.

Look for leftover scheduled tasks. Press Win+R, run:

    taskschd.msc

Browse Task Scheduler Library and delete any tasks referencing TotalAV, Adblock, PCProtect, or suspicious update or notification services. Also check background services. Press Win+R and run:

    services.msc

Sort by name and stop and disable anything clearly tied to TotalAV or unknown security tools.

Browser notifications are a very common cause. In Chrome, Edge, or Firefox go into site settings and remove notification permissions for any unfamiliar sites or anything mentioning TotalAV ads. Also remove any remaining TotalAV or adblock extensions from your browser’s extensions page. In Edge you can directly open:

    edge://extensions
    edge://settings/content/notifications

    In Chrome:

    chrome://extensions
    chrome://settings/content/notifications

If pop-ups still appear at the system level, check Windows notification senders. Open Settings → System → Notifications and look for any unknown app allowed to send notifications and turn it off. Then run a malware cleanup scan using Microsoft Defender Offline Scan. Open Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Scan options → Microsoft Defender Offline scan. This catches leftover adware that normal uninstallers miss.
