Hi Joel Anthony,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!
I know it’s confusing when the wireless mouse stops working and Windows shows network adapters with “Not operational” status. However, I need to clarify: the issues shown in the screenshot are not related to your wireless mouse.
Wireless mouse uses Bluetooth or a USB wireless dongle, not the Microsoft Wi‑Fi Direct Virtual Adapter shown in the picture. That adapter is specifically used for features like Mobile Hotspot or Miracast, and it often shows “Not operational”.
In short, the information in the screenshot is normal and not related to your mouse problem. Instead, here's something to focus on:
1 - Is the mouse Bluetooth or USB wireless?
- If it’s Bluetooth:
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device
- Put the mouse on pairing mode (re-check its manual).
- Does the mouse appear? Do any other Bluetooth devices?
- If it’s a USB wireless mouse:
- Make sure the USB receiver is fully plugged in.
- Try to plug the dongle to a different USB port.
- Replace or reseat the mouse battery to see if it helps.
2 - Restart Bluetooth service (Bluetooth mice only)
- Press Win + R > type
services.msc> press Enter to open - Find Bluetooth Support Service > right‑click > Restart / Start
3 - Check for driver issues
- Press Win + X > Device Manager > Expand
- Mice and other pointing devices
- Bluetooth (if applicable)
- If you see any warning icons > right‑click > Update driver
Your Wi‑Fi Direct adapter is simply not in use. It doesn't show connectivity issues, and is not related to the mouse problem. If the issue persists, let me know the model of your mouse so I can give more suitable suggestions!
