OneNote showing "Out of Storage" while having plenty of free storage

Hello,

A few weeks ago, my annual payment didn't go through and Microsoft blocked my OneDrive subscription (with little notice but that's not my main issue). I resolved the payment issue, but since then my OneNote still shows I'm out of storage.

How can I update that status because it's clearly not the case anymore. I've been searching in vain for support from Microsoft but it looks like it's intentionally complicated! I've been dangled from one site to another, with multiple logins necessary on each site, sometimes even multiple required on same single page. How is that even possible? I'm baffled.

So yeah, on the support page they say I should ask here if I can't find a solution. If anyone has an idea for a solution, I'd be super glad!

Many thanks !

Hello, thank you for your reply.

Currently, you have subscribed to storage space, but the purchased storage space has not synced to your account. We have already tried different devices and browsers, so it's basically a problem with your account.

You can contact Microsoft Support through the link below to resolve your account issue:

Hello, thank you for your reply.

You may also encounter caching issues when using the web version. Try accessing OneNote using a different browser or device to see if it works correctly.

If accessing the OneNote web version works fine on other browsers/devices, then it is indeed a browser caching issue. You can try resetting your browser to resolve this.

    Hello,

I can see that you have plenty of storage space available, but OneNote is showing that your storage is insufficient. This usually happens when the OneNote app has not updated your account’s storage information in time.

To verify whether the issue is caused by OneNote not syncing your account storage data, you can go to the OneNote web version and try creating a notebook to see if it works:

    https://onenote.cloud.microsoft/

If you are able to create a notebook there, please create the unsynced content in the web version first. Then go to Settings > Apps, find and uninstall OneDrive from the list of installed apps. After uninstalling, download OneNote again from the Microsoft Store, sign back into your Microsoft account, and check whether this resolves the issue.

If your OneNote is still showing "Out of Storage" after resolving your payment issue with OneDrive, you can try the following steps to update the status:

    1. Check Sync Status: Ensure that your OneNote is syncing properly. Look for the sync status icon in the app to confirm that your notes are being updated to the cloud.
    2. Restart OneNote: Sometimes, simply restarting the OneNote application can refresh the connection to your OneDrive account and resolve storage issues.
    3. Clear Cache: If you're using OneNote 2016 or OneNote for Windows 10, clearing the cache might help. You can do this by navigating to the settings and finding the option to clear the cache.
    4. Log Out and Log Back In: Try logging out of your Microsoft account in OneNote and then logging back in. This can refresh your account status and may resolve the storage issue.
    5. Check OneDrive Storage: Make sure that your OneDrive account is indeed active and that you have sufficient storage available. You can check this by logging into your OneDrive account on the web.
    6. Contact Support: If none of the above solutions work, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for assistance. They may be able to help you resolve the issue directly.

These steps should help in resolving the "Out of Storage" message in OneNote after your payment issue has been rectified.
