How did you check your email? Did you check it via an email app, like Outlook Classic, or New Outlook? Or did you check directly via the web www.outlook.com?
My emails 3 months ago and previous have all disappeared

Since starting my college course and putting the free 365 onto my home laptop my personal email account has changed. this might be a coincidence but I'm not sure. Any emails that I had before 1/10/2025 have disappeared and I have looked in deleted, I have no rules or sweeps on my account and haven't been hacked. How do I retrieve these and prevent this from happening in the future?

Hello,
Make sure you do this on a computer, not on smartphone or tablet. Go to https://www.outlook.com and log in, click on the gear icon on the top right to launch the settings.
Then, on the Mail tab, go to Rules. Are there any rules set up here? If yes, delete them all.
Then check the conditional format, again, if it's there, delete it.
Then, check Forwarding and IMAP, If any items are present, delete them as well.

You also said this happened since you got the Ms365 from school, did you set up your personal Microsoft account in the Outlook classic then? If you did, do you know if you set it up as POP, or IMAP?
