My Word for iMac 24 keeps freezing up on me when I am writing my book. It is really annoying, since I bought a brand-new iMac 24 2 months ago. It is constantly freezing! What is happening?

Please let me know. Thank you.

Mily

You might switch to Pages that comes with your Mac. It should be able to load your current word doc. You can also export to word.

Try creating a new user account (System Settings>Users & Groups), signing in to that, then testing if the problem still exists. If it goes away, it's an issue with the user profile part of your Office installation.

If the issue still exists, or you'd rather not move your user data to a new profile, try uninstalling Office following these steps: Uninstall Office for Mac Then reinstall from the Subscriptions page of your Microsoft account.

If any steps are too complicated, consider bringing your computer to an Apple Store and have them do the uninstall and reinstall for you.

If your Word for iMac is freezing and showing a spinning wheel, it may be due to several reasons. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Close All Office Applications: Make sure to quit all Office applications before proceeding with any troubleshooting steps.
    2. Delete Application Data: Open Finder, go to Applications, and remove the Microsoft Office applications. Then, navigate to ~/Library/Containers/ and delete folders starting with com.microsoft.Word, com.microsoft.Excel, etc. After that, check the Group Containers folder and delete any related folders.
    3. Reinstall Office: Sign in to your Microsoft account and reinstall the Office apps from there.
    4. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Office applications are up to date, as updates can fix bugs and improve performance.
    5. Reduce Document Complexity: If your document contains excessive tracked changes or comments, it can slow down Word. Try accepting or rejecting changes and removing unnecessary comments.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance.
