A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
If the document is anything more than a very basic business letter or comparable I wouldn't suggest opening it in Pages. That could make matters worse.
If the problem is only with one specific document it is most likely a matter of corruption in that document. The first method to try is to simply use File> Save As to create a new copy; That often corrects minor corruption issues.
If the new copy exhibits the same behavior try performing what is called a Maggie. Step-by-step instructions are listed below:
A "Maggie", named after its originator, Margaret Secara
- Command+A [Select All]
- Shift+← [deselect final ¶]*
- Command+C [Copy]
- Command+N [create a new blank document]
- Command+V [Paste into new document]
- Command+S [Save the new document]
*Don’t omit this step. Otherwise it’s just a regular copy/paste which includes the cause of the corruption.
