Hi Julie Nicola,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that your Canon 3600 printer suddenly stopped working on Windows 11.
Please make sure you already tried the Q&A Assist steps. In addition, to help narrow this down a bit before we proceed further:
- Is the printer connected via USB cable or over Wi‑Fi?
- Did this start happening after a recent Windows update or system restart?
In the meantime, you can try these steps:
1, Clear the printer queue and restart the Print Spooler service
- Press the Start button and type Services
- Open Services, locate Print Spooler, and stop it
- Go to the Windows folder, then System32, then spool, then PRINTERS, and delete all files inside
- Go back to Services and start Print Spooler again
2, Remove leftover printer drivers from Print Server Properties
- Press the Start button and type Print Management
- Open Print Management and go to All Printers
- Right‑click your Canon printer and remove it if listed
- Go to Drivers under Print Servers and remove any Canon 3600 related drivers
3, Add the printer again using Windows built‑in detection
- Open Settings and go to Bluetooth and devices
- Select Printers and scanners
- Click Add device and let Windows search for the printer again
4, Temporarily disable third‑party antivirus or firewall software
- Some security software can block printer services or ports
- After disabling, restart the PC and test printing again
5, Check Windows Update optional driver updates
- Open Settings and go to Windows Update
- Select Advanced options, then Optional updates
- Install any printer or driver updates listed
