If you are experiencing issues with the Windows 10 Home Extended Service Update 2026-1 failing to download or install, it may be related to known issues affecting multiple platforms, including Windows 10. Microsoft has released an out-of-band (OOB) update to address issues observed with the January 2026 Windows security update. This OOB update was released on January 17, 2026, and is recommended for environments that include affected applications and features.

To resolve the installation issues, you can try the following steps:

    1. Ensure your device is connected to the internet.
    2. Check for updates manually by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and clicking on "Check for updates."
    3. If the update still fails, consider downloading the OOB update directly from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

For more specific guidance, refer to the appropriate KB article related to your version of Windows 10.
