When I create a new ad account, "Japan" doesn't appear in the field to select the business location, so I can't select it. We are a Japanese company. Do you know how to solve this?

    Hello Kazuho,

Thank you for using our Microsoft Advertising Learn Q&A Platform!

Japan is listed as a supported country for Microsoft Advertising, and ads can be shown in Japan. When creating a Microsoft Advertising account, you should be able to select Japan as your business location if your business is located there. To make sure you are not facing any technical difficulties, kindly share your details privately so we can investigate the matter further. For now, I hope the response and resources provided here can also be of some help to you.

All Microsoft Advertising customers need to have a business location listed for each of their accounts. Business location is the country/region where the advertiser's business is legally registered. Whether you will be charged VAT on your advertising costs will depend on your business location and your tax registration status. For example, if you are in a business location that has VAT accounting obligations, you will need to enter your VAT registration number. If you do not provide your VAT registration number, Microsoft Advertising will charge VAT, in most cases. VAT will be charged based on your local rate.

Once you've signed in to your Microsoft account, you can create a Microsoft Advertising account. Please enter the following information when prompted:

    • Your business website.
    • The country where your business is located.
    • The language you'd like to advertise in.
    • Your legal business name, email, and phone number.
    • Your promotional offer (optional).

For adding a business location, please follow these steps:

    1. From the navigation menu on the left, hover over Settings and select Account settings.
    2. Next to the Account settings page title, select the pencil icon edit icon.
    3. Select your Business location and then provide your Business address.
    4. Based on your business location, you might need to enter a VAT registration number. (If you do, it can take up to 3 days for the number to be validated.)
    5. Select Save.

Please refer to the following resources for details and steps:

It appears that there may be restrictions or limitations regarding the selection of business locations when creating a new ad account in Microsoft Advertising. If "Japan" does not appear as an option, it could be due to various factors such as regional availability or specific account settings.

To resolve this issue, consider the following steps:

    1. Check Account Settings: Ensure that your account settings are configured correctly and that there are no restrictions on your account type.
    2. Contact Support: Reach out to Microsoft Advertising support for assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your account and business location.
    3. Review Documentation: Consult the Microsoft Advertising documentation for any updates or changes regarding business location selections.

If the issue persists, support will be the best resource to help you navigate this situation.
