When I log in a two-step verification comes up but I no longer use the number, there are no other options either, even when trying to reset the password it also asks for a two-step verification, but I don't have that number anymore. I tried to go to outlook, and press the "Use to sign up" button on the setting but it says error each time. I don't know what to do, I searched on Google and it said to go to the account recovery with a different account (I used this account) but when I typed my school email Microsoft did not recognize it.

    Hi @bergundykav

Thank you for posting your question in the Q&A Forum.

I understand it can be frustrating when two-step verification asks for a phone number you no longer use. Since your student account is managed by your school, the usual Microsoft password reset won’t work.

Just to clarify, the regular Microsoft account recovery page only works for personal accounts. School or student accounts are managed by your school’s IT system, so Microsoft won’t recognize your email there.

The best way to regain access is to contact your school’s IT support. They can remove the old number, reset your two-step verification, or provide temporary access. It helps to have your student ID or enrollment info ready, as IT may need it to verify your identity.

Please avoid creating a new Microsoft account with your school email, as that won’t work and may cause conflicts.

I hope this helps you get back in quickly.
