I am using outlook on my iMac and mail with my iPhone. the email on inbox synchronize but not libraries

Hello,

I tried disabling mail accounts which seemed to help at first - but then problems returned.

So I Contacted Apple support, and after going through some outlook settings (It seems that when you create a folder on outlook you have to enter settings and mark it as synchronize ; this is not the default ), they suggested I will use the Apple mail also on my Mac, which I did and It works great.

I don't know if this is the best solution, I enjoyed using outlook for my mails but unfortunately it caused too much trouble.

I must add that Microsoft used to have a very efficient support by phone where you could actually talk to someone and have your problems and difficulties solved instantly and efficiently. I don't think moving technical support to the internet was a such a good idea

Hi,

yes they synchronize but not with all the mails and what is more confusing - folders I created in outlook will somehow suddenly disappear. As if the mail on the iPhone will erase them. quite disappointing

To help isolate the cause, I recommend temporarily removing or disabling the IMAP account from the Apple Mail app on your iPhone and then monitoring whether the folders remain stable in Outlook on your Mac. As an alternative, you may also consider using Outlook for iOS instead of the Apple Mail app, as Outlook manages IMAP folders more consistently across devices.

If the issue continues specifically when using the Apple Mail app, I suggest contacting Apple Support for further assistance.

Hi Chloe,

on my iphone I am using the default mail, not outlook. On my mac I use outlook.

My account is imap

I open new folders under the account name but they won’t synchronize.

Since you’re using Apple Mail on your iPhone and Outlook on your Mac, and your account is configured as IMAP, any folders you create under the account name in Outlook on your Mac should, in principle, synchronize across all IMAP‑based devices.

However, before we proceed, I need you to confirm one important point:

Do the new folders you created in Outlook on your Mac actually synchronize?

If Outlook on your Mac syncs normally but the folders still do not appear on the iPhone, then the incident is likely related to the Apple Mail app on the iPhone. In that case, you will need to contact Apple Support for further assistance with the Apple Mail configuration.
