New look outlook classic won't allow me to add my work email

I switched from the old outlook classic to the new look outlook classic and my work email address which is a pop account did not switch properly. I can see it listed on the side where the accounts are shown but it is not downloading any mail. when I go into manage accounts it does not appear in the list of accounts and then when I click on add account and type in the address it says the email account already exists in outlook. I tried to switch back to the old version but now the old version is not responding and times out. Is there a fix for this?
