Hi

I have been using a personal Hotmail account since 2001. Today, I noticed that emails sent before 10 October 2025 are no longer available in my Sent Items folder. I access this account on multiple devices, and I am unsure whether the emails were accidentally deleted. I would appreciate assistance with recovering these emails. This is critical please support.

    Hi Winnie-B

Thank you for replying to my queries.

The emails are missing across all devices, including the web version. I have checked and tried the recommended steps, but unfortunately, I have not been able to recover any of the missing emails.

Could you please advise on the next steps or investigate this issue further?

    Hi Hemdatt Sharma

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand how worrying it is to suddenly lose older Sent emails, especially ones from before October 10, 2025. I’ll do my best to help you check all possible places where these messages may still be recoverable.

Please also make sure that you've tried the suggestions in Q&A Assist above. To narrow this down, please sign in directly at Outlook on the web, and check the following folders:

    1. Deleted Items

Sometimes Sent messages may move here due to sync issues or Outlook rules.

    • Go to Deleted Items
    • Check if any of your earlier Sent emails appear there

    2. Recoverable Items

If the emails were deleted recently, they might still be recoverable:

    • Go to Deleted Items folder
    • Select Recover items deleted from this folder at the top (This restores messages still available on Microsoft’s retention system)

    3. Archive folder

Some devices or apps may auto‑archive older emails. Please check Archive to see if the missing Sent items were moved there.

    4. Confirm if you can see these Sent emails in Outlook on the web

    Please tell me:

    • Do any Sent emails before October 2025 appear when viewed only on the web?
    • Or are they missing across all devices including web?

For more details, you can see this official guide: View sent email - Microsoft Support

Please feel free to let me know how it goes. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

It appears that the emails sent before 10 October 2025 are not available in your Sent Items folder. This could be due to accidental deletion or other factors. Here are some steps you can take to recover your emails:

    1. Check Deleted Items: Sometimes, emails can be accidentally deleted. Check your Deleted Items folder to see if the emails are there.
    2. Recover Deleted Items: If you find that the emails are not in the Deleted Items folder, you may still be able to recover them if the deleted items retention period hasn't expired. In Outlook, there is an option to recover deleted items. Look for the option to "Recover Deleted Items" in the Deleted Items folder.
    3. Search for Emails: Use the search function in Outlook to look for specific emails by subject or sender. This might help you locate emails that are not immediately visible.
    4. Contact Support: If you are unable to recover the emails through the above methods, consider contacting Microsoft support for further assistance. They may have additional options for recovering lost emails.

Since you mentioned that this is critical, I recommend taking action as soon as possible to maximize your chances of recovery.
