Hi,

I have a client that needs to change their Microsoft 365 tenant name, there current name is for the old company, and they wish to update it to the new company name?

Is this possible without creating a whole new tenant?

What are the steps and how do we go about this?

Changing the name of your Microsoft 365 tenant (organization name) is not a straightforward process and typically requires assistance from Microsoft support. You cannot change the organization name directly through the Microsoft 365 admin center. Instead, you need to complete a form and contact Microsoft support for help with this change.

Here are the general steps you would follow:

    1. Complete the necessary form: You will need to fill out a form provided by Microsoft to request the name change.
    2. Contact Microsoft Support: After completing the form, reach out to Microsoft support to submit your request.
    3. Wait for confirmation: Microsoft will process your request and confirm when the name change has been completed.

It's important to note that this process does not involve creating a new tenant, but it does require support from Microsoft to execute the change.
