A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
To delete an old phone from the Microsoft Authenticator, you can follow these steps:
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your current device.
- Select the credential card associated with the old phone that you want to delete.
- Tap on the trash can icon located in the upper right corner to confirm the deletion.
Please note that deleting a verifiable credential is an irrevocable process, and you will need to go through the issuance process again if you want to restore it.
To transfer the Microsoft Authenticator to a new phone, you should follow these steps:
- Ensure that you have the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on your new phone. You can download it from the App Store.
- On your old phone, open the Microsoft Authenticator app and enable phone sign-in if you haven't already.
- Follow the setup process for your new device, ensuring that you complete any multifactor authentication (MFA) requirements using your old phone during the setup.
- Once your new phone is set up, you can restore any allowed MFA credentials and saved passwords from a backup if you have one.
Make sure not to remove the Authenticator app from your old device until you have successfully set up your new device to avoid losing access to your accounts.
