Office installer consistently failing.

Hi,

Noticed that MS (microsoft) had withdrawn support and updates for Office 2019 (must the flavour of the month there); so in 2024 I purchased a Office 2021 version (so I have product keys etc).

I have tried the ISO download, being the retailers 'offline installer', the original setup file, with AV disabled or not (windows defender has made no diff), I am getting the attached error consistently, each time.

Doing my head in as I have had to revert to the 'new and improved' Thunderbird. And it has!

Looking for some guidance and progress, happy to clarify on any point.

regards

    Hi again Stefan,

The office version was 2021 professional plus.

I would add the 'intentions' (targetted) or restricted to 'strictly` different applications, are ALWAYS a guide only.

Update I have now gone thru a pc reset, lost most of my apps (no option given to keep whilst progressing), however have been able to install office and even eset...which started all this late last year.

Now! The product key fails, as it was used by myself in TRYING to install office 2021 late last year into this year. It failed to install....so even if single use, that should not count.

    What can I do?

I have added another question on this very same subject, as the subject was no longer appropriate. Perhaps this can be closed with one more bit of advise from yourself?

    regards

    Lethal

Thanks for the update Stefan regard office 2021 eos,

MS are doing some weird things here time wise, for win 10 and apparently the office suite.

    They certainly dont like loyalty.

Secondly, the inability to install and software became more and more annoying. Office (as above), and even eSet multiple times, attempted various ways WITH their tech support team on side.

Had a gutful and went to google about the best way to reinstall windows (thought that could be progress to a solution).

Looking at the options I was assured that a 'RESET this PC' was a safe and as good as could be. The comment it lets you remove or keep your personal files and apps, appealed.

    Unfortunately it was UTTER B.S.

To date I am missing (after 30 min review):

Wise Care Pro, Paint, Brave Browser, Thunderbird (email client), Mailwasher Free & Brave and Chrome bookmarks.

Surprised a little (new LOW for MS), disappointed you bet.

I am hopeful that the reset will assist with the installations I started with (above).

    regards

    Lethal

[...] I have been using Office 2019 Professional Plus, for years...no issue.

Older Professional Plus versions could be purchased through what was at the time called the HUP (Home Use Program), so there is a difference compared to more recent Professional Plus licenses. For more, see https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/workplace-discount-program/order-history .

The newer Professional Plus licenses are strictly for (large) organizations such as businesses. See https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/ltsc/2024/overview .

Which specific Office 2021 product name did you purchase?

There is always a risk, with older software, that someone has sold you a version which can't be activated for personal use.

P.S. Office 2021 will be out of support later this year (see https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/office-2021 ).
