Hi, I have a Microsoft laptop with Windows 11. My laptop is connected to my Cannon printer for printing, but I cannot work out how to use it for scanning to my laptop. I tried the app but got stuck on 3. with a message saying the pathname was too long and I don't know how to shorten the pathname.

No, I'm not using Canon utility, and I'm a bit of a technophobe to be honest! Haven't been able to resolve the problem yet, but I'll keep trying. I've gone into my system and enabled the file name to be extended, but I'm still receiving the same message.

Are you using a Canon utility to scan the documents to your PC?

If so, if you go into the Settings of that app, you should be able to change the folder the scanner will save documents into on your PC, to shorten the file name, pick a folder that is not deep inside a folder structure, pick a folder that is in the root of the C drive.
