Hello. I am the only Global Administrator for my Microsoft 365 tenant. I am locked out because of MFA and I cannot access the admin portal or the support portal. I need an MFA Reset for a Global Admin account. This is urgent.

Any idea

    Hi @Dražen Vujanić,

Thank you for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear that you have already contacted Microsoft Global Support multiple times without getting the issue resolved.

If you have been calling the support phone line during business hours but still haven’t been connected to an agent, you may consider Option 2 as an alternative:

Create a trial tenant to submit a support ticket:

You can create a temporary Microsoft 365 trial tenant: Microsoft 365 Business Plans and Pricing | Microsoft 365 and use it to open a support ticket on behalf of your existing tenant. Once the issue on your original tenant is resolved, you can simply cancel the trial subscription to avoid any charges: Cancel your Microsoft business subscription in the Microsoft 365 admin center | Microsoft Learn.

This option is often helpful when an admin account cannot be accessed and you cannot open a ticket directly from the affected tenant.

If you already have a support ticket:

Please provide the ticket ID in a private message so I can check the status and gather more details for you.

If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

    Hi @Dražen Vujanić,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you so much for reaching out and sharing what you're experiencing. I know how inconvenient and urgent it feels to be locked out of your Global Administrator account, especially when MFA is blocking access to both the admin center and the support portal.

Since you are the sole Global Administrator for the tenant, please follow the steps below to complete the account recovery process and regain access.

Option 1: Contact Microsoft Data Protection Support by Phone (Primary Method)

To regain access to your admin account as you can't access the Admin Portal, you can try reaching out to our Global Customer Service phone to raise a request for resetting your authentication method here: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support. During the call, request to speak to an agent, and share with them every detail related to your query and also mention that you are the only admin lost access to your account. This should allow you to contact the appropriate team so you can solve this incident as soon as possible.

Here are some tips and an example of a prompt to help you navigate the IVR more effectively:

In some countries, it is an automated conversation like:

IVR: What kind of problem are you concerned about?

    You: Authenticator.

IVR: What kind of product do you use?

    You: Office 365 for business.

IVR confirmation: education or company account?

    You: For companies

    IVR: Are you an administrator?

    You: Yes.

IVR: Do you have another administrator in your organization?

    You: No.

IVR: Do you need a... Service request?

You: Yes. I need to create a ticket. Please send me direct to the Data Protection Team.

Option 2: Create a Temporary Account (Trial Tenant) to Submit a Support Ticket (Alternative Method)

If you still cannot reach to a live agent, there is still a workaround, you might consider registering for a new tenant by signing up for a trial subscription via this link Microsoft 365 Business Plans and Pricing | Microsoft 365. This would allow you to create a new tenant following the prompts provided. Once set up, you can access the admin console of the new tenant and submit a support ticket requesting to speak with the Data Protection team on behalf of your previous tenant.

Just to clarify, moderators do not have the ability to view or change user account information, so we cannot help with login issues, password resets, or modifying access rights. Even though we cannot access the internal tools required for account‑specific fixes, we are here to support you in every way we can within our scope.

Please remember to cancel the trial subscription after your issue is resolved, as this will help you avoid any accidental billing. We finally managed to get Microsoft support through a ticket from another Microsoft 365 tenant and we resolved the issue.

We spent a lot of time on it, and it was very stressful.

I have contacted Microsoft Global Support multiple times, but despite that, I was not able to resolve the issue.

    Any Idea ?

What is the procedure if an admin account needs to be recovered? Is it possible to open a support ticket online ?

    Thanks

If you are the only Global Administrator and are locked out due to Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) issues, you have a couple of options to regain access:

    1. Contact Microsoft Data Protection Support by Phone: This is the primary method to regain access. You can call Microsoft's Global Customer Service and request to speak to an agent. Make sure to explain that you are the only admin and are locked out of your account due to MFA issues. They should be able to assist you in resetting your authentication method.
    2. Create a Temporary Account: If you cannot reach a live agent, consider registering for a new tenant by signing up for a trial subscription. This will allow you to access the admin console of the new tenant and submit a support ticket requesting assistance from the Data Protection team regarding your previous tenant.

It's important to act quickly, especially since you mentioned this is urgent.
