Question about CIC eligibility and lack of access to human support
Hi everyone,
I’m posting here in case someone from Microsoft or the community can help clarify this.
I’m registering Project X Dance CIC (UK Community Interest Company, Company Number: SC629058), based in Scotland. We are a not-for-profit organisation delivering publicly funded arts and community work, but we are not a registered charity.
During the nonprofit application process, the system only allows selection of charity regulators (Charity Commission, OSCR, etc.), which makes it impossible for CICs to complete registration accurately. As expected, our application was then marked as “not eligible”.
I’ve tried to contact customer support to raise this issue, but I’ve only been able to interact with AI chatbots and haven’t found a way to speak to a human or formally explain the situation.
My questions are:
- Are CICs categorically excluded from Microsoft Nonprofit offers?
- If so, is there any alternative pathway or review process for UK CICs delivering non-profit, community-benefit work?
- And is there a way to escalate this type of structural issue to a human support team?
I’m raising this not just for our organisation, but because this setup seems to exclude a large number of UK social enterprises and CICs by default.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can advise.
