Microsoft Office Home and Business 2019

Hello,

I purchased Microsoft Office Home and Business 2019 (Box / Medialess) in August 2021 from retailer M79 (Latvia).

Unfortunately, the product key is no longer available and the license was never linked to a Microsoft account.

I have the official purchase invoice and can provide it as proof of purchase.

My previous computer is no longer usable, and I need to activate Office on a new device.

Could you please help me recover or reassign this Office license to my Microsoft account?

Thank you.

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand how stressful it can be to lose access to your Office Home and Business 2019 license, especially when the original product key is no longer available and the license was never linked to a Microsoft account. It makes the situation even more challenging when your previous device is no longer usable and you need the software activated on a new one.

Microsoft explains that a product key for Office 2019 can only be retrieved if it was redeemed and linked to a Microsoft account, since modern versions of Office rely on account-based activation rather than re‑entering a key for installation. If the key was never redeemed, Microsoft Support typically cannot regenerate or reissue a replacement key; however, they may review valid proof of purchase and assist you further depending on the case.

The recommended resolution is to check whether the license was ever linked unintentionally by signing in at the Services & Subscriptions page using any Microsoft account you may have used previously. If the license does not appear there, the next step is to contact Microsoft Support directly, as suggested in Microsoft’s guidance, and provide your purchase invoice so they can verify the purchase and determine whether recovery options exist.

May I ask whether you have already checked all Microsoft accounts you may have used around the time of purchase, and do you still have the full invoice from retailer M79? Please feel free to follow up with any additional details, and I will be happy to guide you through the next steps toward recovering or reassigning your Office license.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel

To recover or reassign your Microsoft Office Home and Business 2019 license, you will need to contact Microsoft support directly. Since your product key is no longer available and the license was not linked to a Microsoft account, they may be able to assist you in verifying your purchase with the official invoice you have.

Here are the steps you can follow:

    1. Visit the Microsoft support page for Office.
    2. Look for options related to product key recovery or license issues.
    3. You may need to provide your proof of purchase (the invoice) during the support process.

Unfortunately, without the product key or a linked Microsoft account, the recovery process will require assistance from Microsoft support to verify your ownership of the license.
