Did you also check if you can login via webmail? This is Important since it will validate if password being used is correct.

Next, you need close Outlook and every other program then you need to clear the stored credentials.

    1. Press Win + R
      1. Type: "control keymgr.dll" (do it without the "")
    2. Under Generic Credentials, remove everything related to:
      • MicrosoftOffice
      • Outlook
      • ADAL
      • OneAuth
      • MSOID
    3. Restart Windows

Then you can check Outlook again.

    Hi!

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Can I confirm when was the last time that Outlook worked without issues. There is one test that you can do, go and login to webmail version, see if your email works.

let me know once done so I can assist you further.

If Outlook is displaying "Setting things up" and then returning to the sign-in prompt, it may indicate an issue with the account setup or the application itself. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check Internet Connection: Ensure that you have a stable internet connection, as Outlook needs to connect to the server to complete the sign-in process.
    2. Clear Outlook Credentials: Sometimes, stored credentials can cause issues. Go to the Windows Credential Manager and remove any stored credentials related to Outlook or Microsoft Office. Then, try signing in again.
    3. Create a New Profile: If the issue persists, consider creating a new Outlook profile. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles > Add. Set up your email account in the new profile and see if it resolves the issue.
    4. Repair Office: You can also try repairing your Office installation. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, select Microsoft Office, and choose the Repair option.
    5. Safe Mode: If you can access Outlook in Safe Mode, it may help identify if an add-in is causing the issue. To start Outlook in Safe Mode, hold down the Ctrl key while launching the application.

If none of these steps work, you may need to consider reinstalling Outlook or checking for updates that might address the issue.
