To Microsoft,
I would like you, as a fellow Microsoft user, to somehow remove Light Speed from my computer. I didn't ask if you can do it, all I want is that Light Speed goes away forever. I can't talk to my friends, family or even feel enjoyment on my school computer. I have to wait a while for my own computer. All I ask is for Light Speed to be gone. #FOR THE KIDS.

Hi,
Thank you for sharing your question. I understand how frustrating it is when a school‑managed filter changes how you use your computer and makes it feel like you’ve lost control, especially when you just want a normal, enjoyable experience online.
On Windows devices issued or managed by a school, filtering and management tools like Lightspeed are installed and enforced by the school’s IT administrators through device management, not by Microsoft support, so Microsoft cannot remove or bypass the software for you; only the organization that manages the device can change or uninstall it. Microsoft’s own forums and documentation make this distinction clear and direct students to contact the school IT team for any unblocking or removal requests, because the policies come from the school’s management service and credentials, not from Microsoft. If the device was personally owned but accidentally became “school‑managed” by joining work or school management, Microsoft Learn explains that a user can only remove management by unenrolling the PC from the organization’s mobile device management in Settings or via the Company Portal, which immediately removes organizational control but also removes access to school resources; on a school‑owned device this action is typically blocked by policy and must be done by the school.
May I also ask, is this a school‑owned laptop or your personal Windows device that was signed in with a school account, and do you have the Company Portal app or a “This device is managed by your organization” message in Settings, Accounts, Access work or school?
If you tell me which of those applies, I can draft a short request you can send to your school IT asking for either specific sites to be allowed or for the device to be unenrolled if it’s your personal computer, and I can include the exact Microsoft Learn references administrators expect to see so your case moves faster.
Best Regards,
Noel
Microsoft cannot remove or bypass the Lightspeed Filter Agent because it is managed by your school's IT department. They are the only ones with the necessary administrative credentials to change or remove it. If you want certain websites unblocked, you will need to contact your school IT staff or teachers to request that they review or add specific sites to the allowed list. Microsoft does not have access to the passwords or the ability to override school security settings.
