Hi,

I registered the Microsoft 365 developer account using my school email address and my personal phone number. Is there any way to cancel the developer account associated with my school email so that I can reigster my phone number under my personal account?

    Hi Tina

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A Forum.

Please note that, as a forum moderator, I do not have access to the internal systems required to investigate individual account-related issues due to privacy and security constraints

According to my findings, you can delete your account by signing in to your dashboard > and selecting Delete Profile. Please note that if you delete your Developer Program account, you can only get a new subscription after your existing subscription has been active for more than 60 days.

However, I also found that in many cases, when registering a new account with the same phone number, an error occurs because the phone number is still linked to the old account. You can refer to this thread: Phone number already associated with an existing Developer Program account – need reset - Microsoft…

Therefore, if possible, I recommend creating a completely fresh account with a new email address and phone number. To create a new account, you can refer to the information here:

Additionally, based on my research, if you’re using a personal account, one way to become eligible for a sandbox subscription is by maintaining an active Visual Studio subscription. Holders of Visual Studio Professional or Enterprise subscriptions are typically entitled to set up a Microsoft 365 E5 developer subscription.

I hope this clarifies the situation. Thank you for your understanding.
