    Hi @Yvonne Davies,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

According to your concern, Yellow in Teams means you are "Away" and based on User presence in Teams - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn, Teams presence is based on:

    • Mainly based on your activity on the device (keyboard/mouse activity). If you're inactive for a while, Teams will automatically switch to Away.
    • Computer status: Teams will switch you from Available to Away if you lock the PC or it goes idle/sleep.
    • The state of the Teams app (e.g., in a call/meeting/presenting)
    • Your Outlook calendar (meetings/out-of-office can influence presence)
    • Mobile behavior: on phones, Teams can show you as Away when the app is in the background

Therefore, you don't need to keep the cursor on the Teams chat pane or keep the Chats window open to always stay green, but you need to be active on your device (computer/phone) so Teams will understand that you are "Online" (green status).

I hope this helps you move forward smoothly. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out again on this post so I can continue to support you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Looking forward to your response.

The color of your Team Chat indicator can vary based on the status of your connection or the configuration of your Teams application. A yellow indicator typically signifies that there may be some issues with connectivity or that the app is not fully configured for your user account. To resolve this, ensure that your Teams app is properly installed and configured. You can check the installation status by running the following PowerShell command:

    Get-AppxPackage -name '*teams'

If the command shows that Teams is installed, but you're still seeing yellow, you may need to check your internet connection or restart the app. Additionally, you do not need to keep your cursor on Team Chat or have it open all the time for it to function correctly.
