Why can't I connect my Iphone to my PC with Phone Link

I recently bought an Iphone 17 and I'm trying to connect to my Windows 11 PC with Phone Link. I can easily connect them by going through the Bluetooth app, but the phone never shows up in the Phone Link app. I've tried linking through the Phone Link app and the Link to Windows app, but neither one works. Either it never completes or it says it can't connect. I've spent hours on the internet trying every suggestion I can find and I still can't get it to work.

    Dear @Susan DiMenna,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

We apologize for any inconvenience you may encounter when using our services/ products. Based on your description, kindly try these following steps:

Confirm your PC support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)

    • Phone Link for iPhone requires a Windows 10/11 PC with BLE support. If your Bluetooth adapter is “classic Bluetooth only” (common on older desktops or some dongles), the iPhone may pair in Settings but won’t appear in Phone Link or the iPhone option may be greyed out.

    On your PC:

    • Open Phone Link > Settings > My Devices > Remove the iPhone if it is listed.
    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > find your iPhone entry > Remove device.

    On your iPhone:

    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth > tap the (i) next to your PC name > Forget This Device.
    • Turn Bluetooth OFF on both devices, wait ~10 seconds, then turn Bluetooth ON again.

Start from the PC this time: Open Phone Link > choose iPhone® > follow the guided steps > scan the QR code with the iPhone’s camera.

Approve the Bluetooth pairing codes on both devices and continue until Phone Link finishes setup.

Make sure iPhone permissions are actually enabled

On the iPhone, verify these are granted during/after setup:

    • Share System Notifications (enables access for notifications and messages)
    • Show Notifications (supports message visibility)
    • Sync Contacts (enables contacts + call history support)

Please also update the Phone Link and Windows Updates.

I sincerely hope you understand that the initial steps I suggested may not have completely fixed the issue, as there may still be underlying causes that have not yet been identified. I am here to work closely with you, troubleshoot effectively, and explore every possible solution to ensure the best possible outcome.
