    Dear @angela personal moore,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

Thank you for reaching out, and I’m sorry for the trouble you’re experiencing with Word.

From your description, I understand that Word and Excel from your Student edition worked normally until this year, and now Word cannot verify the license and keeps asking you to repair the app. This usually happens when Office is signed in with an account that does not hold the license, or when activation becomes disconnected after a device or Windows change.

From your description, the most important step now is to verify whether your Office license is still correctly assigned to your Microsoft account. You can check this without opening Word, by signing in on the Microsoft account portal

After signing in, select Subscriptions and confirm whether your Student Edition appears there.

If the license does not show up under that account, Word will continue to report Unlicensed Product, which is exactly the behavior you’re seeing.

It would also help to know when the “Repair Now” prompt appears, does Word continue to work after repairing, or does the error appear again on the next launch?

Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Looking forward to hearing back from you with any updates or additional details.

    Warm regards,

To resolve the issue with your Microsoft Word showing an error and indicating that it is an unlicensed product, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Your License: Ensure that your Microsoft Office product is properly associated with your Microsoft account. You can verify this by visiting your Microsoft account services.
    2. Remove Office Credentials:
      • Open the Credential Manager from the Start menu.
      • Go to Windows credentials and look for any entries related to MicrosoftOffice16. If you find any, remove them.
      • Close the Credential Manager.
      • Go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school. If your Office account is listed but is different from your Windows sign-in account, disconnect it.
      • Restart your device and try to activate Microsoft 365 again.
    3. Perform an Online Repair:
      • Exit all Office applications.
      • Go to Settings > Apps in Windows.
      • Find Microsoft Office in the list and select it, then choose Modify and select Online Repair. This process may take some time and will reinstall Office components.
    4. Uninstall and Reinstall Office: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to completely uninstall Office, restart your PC (not just shut down), and then reinstall Office from your Microsoft account.

Following these steps should help you fix the error and resolve the licensing issue with your Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
