Microsoft has implemented several AI-based filters to block phishing emails; however, some messages still slip through the cracks.
If you haven't reported the email address to Microsoft yet, right-click the email you received, select Report > Phishing.
Then create an email rule to automatically move phishing emails to the Junk Email or Trash folder.
- Go to https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/options/mail/rules
- Select 'Add a New Rule'.
- Select Condition and Action, so that the email from this sender automatically goes to the trash folder.
In addition to this, if you still receive emails from other senders with the same phishing message, change the Junk email handling from Standard to strict. https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/options/mail/junkEmail
(Only the safe sender emails will be delivered to your inbox; other emails will be delivered to your junk email. So, be careful before making this change).
Alternatively, please check for any unusual activity in your Microsoft account. Remember to protect your account with strong password and enable two-factor authentication for added security.
