I guess I didn't write down the password of my child's account when setting it up. I am unable to log in or reset the password. When presented with the Microsoft account recovery, I put in information and then I receive an email that my password reset request has been denied. This is my child's account that is part of my Microsoft Family. I go through Microsoft Support to see if I can chat with someone but receive this message in the end:

Microsoft account recovery

To protect your account and its contents, our support agents are not allowed to send password reset links, or access and change account details.

Our support agents cannot provide help any more than the password reset form.

I just want to reset the password of my child's account, who is part of my Microsoft Family.

To reset your child's Microsoft account password, you can follow these steps:

    1. Use the Password Reset Form: Go to the Microsoft account recovery page and fill out the password reset form with the necessary information. Ensure that you provide accurate details to verify your identity.
    2. Check Recovery Options: If the password reset request is denied, check if there are any recovery options available, such as using a recovery email or phone number associated with the account.
    3. Wait for Lockout Period: If you have attempted multiple recovery options and received denials, Microsoft may temporarily lock the account for security reasons. It’s advisable to wait for a period (usually about 24 hours) before trying again.
    4. Contact Microsoft Support: Since you mentioned that you received a message stating that support agents cannot assist with password resets, ensure you are using the correct channels. You can try contacting Microsoft Support again and explain that you are trying to recover a child's account under your Microsoft Family.
    5. Consider Family Safety Features: If your child’s account is part of your Microsoft Family, you may have additional options available through the Family Safety features. Check your family settings to see if there are any recovery options available for child accounts.

If you continue to face issues, it may be necessary to gather more information about the account and retry the recovery process from a familiar device and location.
