Unable to log in to Hotmail because my account is locked.

My account was locked because someone intentionally tried to log in with the wrong password multiple times, leading to the lockout.

I successfully recovered my password. However, I can't log in because Microsoft is now requiring me to verify my account using my phone number.

I entered my phone number, but Microsoft didn't send a verification code; instead, they asked for another verification method, which they didn't provide.

Even though I successfully used email verification to get a new password, I still can't access my account.

A major drawback is the support; I can't find any direct solutions to contact Microsoft. All I see are pre-created support scenarios, and no one is directly assisting with situations like mine that don't fit into any of those scenarios.

Can anyone help?

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. I'm happy to help.

I can see that your account is locked and you’re getting the error message "Try another verification method" when signing in. You successfully reset your password, but the account remains locked. This error usually appears due to unusual activity, a high volume of requests, or similar issues.

Make sure you’re using a device and location you’ve previously used to sign in. Try a different verification method, such as an alternate email instead of SMS (or vice versa). You can also switch networks by using Wi-Fi or mobile data. Avoid making repeated attempts. In some cases, waiting 24 hours or even up to a week may help resolve the issue.

For further assistance, you can use the Sign-in Helper tool to identify the problem and explore available support options: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2214157

This is the interface Microsoft is showing, and I haven't found any solution even after waiting for over a month.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating situation with your Hotmail account being locked and the verification process not working as expected. Here are some steps you can take to try to regain access:

    1. Wait for the Lockout Period: If your account was locked due to multiple failed login attempts, it might be temporarily locked. Typically, waiting for 24 hours before trying again can help.
    2. Use the Account Recovery Form: Since you have already recovered your password, you may need to go through the account recovery process again. Visit the official recovery form at https://account.live.com/acsr and follow the prompts. Make sure to provide as much accurate information as possible.
    3. Check Your Phone Number Format: When entering your phone number for verification, ensure that you are using the correct format, including the country code. Sometimes, entering the number incorrectly can prevent the verification code from being sent.
    4. Try Alternative Verification Methods: If Microsoft is asking for another verification method, look for options such as using an alternate email or answering security questions if you set them up previously.
    5. Contact Microsoft Support: If none of the recovery options work, you can try to contact Microsoft Support directly. You can do this by visiting the support page and looking for the option to chat with a support agent. If you don't have another account, consider creating a new one just for the purpose of contacting support.
    6. Use a Familiar Device: When filling out the recovery form, use a device and network that you frequently use to access your account. This can help Microsoft verify your identity more easily.

If you continue to face issues, it may take some persistence to navigate through the automated systems, but keep trying the recovery form and reaching out for support.
