In May last year, Microsoft announced an increase of approx. 30% to the Microsoft 365 subscription, because they were adding new functionality like Copilot AI to the Microsoft 365 version of Office.

If you do not need that new functionality, go to your Microsoft account online, choose to cancel your subscription, then on the next window, scroll down and you should find the hidden option to get the Microsoft 365 Classic version for the original cheaper price.

The increase in your annual subscription from £59.99 to £84.99 may be due to recent changes in Microsoft 365 subscriptions, where new features, such as the addition of Copilot, have been introduced in certain regions, resulting in a price increase. If you did not request these changes or are seeking clarification, it is recommended to contact Microsoft Billing Support for assistance regarding your subscription and any potential refunds.
