Hi Team,

We would like to swap users from O365 E3 + EMS E3 to M365 E5 and would like to know if there will be no impact on the applications and features.

Thank you for your help.

    Intune Included:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/fundamentals/licenses

    If you download this doc:
    https://download.microsoft.com/download/8/7/7/877B1713-671E-43AA-BB79-AF8478C64AFF/Licensing-Microsoft-365.pdf

You can see what is included for servers:

Note that all Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 USL license a user for access to Windows Server, but does not include a license for
    the Windows Server product itself.

    On-premises server rights
The following rights are included with all Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 User Subscription License (USL):
 Exchange Server, SharePoint Server, Skype for Business Server
 Rights to install the server software on on-premises servers. Downgrade rights included
 Rights to access any licensed on-premises servers
The following rights are available for active Software Assurance customers when transitioning to Microsoft 365 using
    “From SA” USL:
    Office Professional Plus
 One installation for the length of the Microsoft 365 subscription
 Copies of Office Professional Plus are available to Full User Subscription License (FUSL) users up to a 1:1 ratio
    of “From SA” USLs purchased.
 For example: You purchase 500 “From SA” USLs and 500 FUSLs. In this case, all users could receive a copy of
    Office Professional Plus.
     Downgrade rights included

no impact if done right :)
If using the portal, simply check the E5 option in licensing and uncheck the 365 E3 / EMS E3 checkboxes and then click save.

All is good and no impact to the user.

    @J-3804

The E5 is higher than E3, promotion will not cause loss of function or configuration.

I also test it in may lab, for Exchange online function, there doesn't exist any issue. After canceling the old license, you need to assign the new license as soon as possible. Because a license is removed from a user, Exchange online data that is associated with that account is held for 30 days. After the 30-day grace period, the data is deleted and can't be recovered.

Thank you guys for your help but what about EMS E3 license ( some users has O365 E3 and EMS licenses) do we have Microsoft Intune and Windows Server CAL rights included in M365 E5 licenses?

    Best regards,
