AOL email no longer syncs with Outlook since yesterday. How to fix this?

Since yesterday, I am unable to sync my AOL email account with Outlook on any of my devices. When I click on Outlook, I get a screen asking me to sign in and enter a password. I have tried both my AOL email password and the IMAP password, and neither work. I have updated both and this did not help.

    Hello Richard,

Thank you for posting to the community I understand your having an issue with your AOL not syncing to your outlook I’m here to help. I suggest first to fully log out of AOL on all devices, sign out from AOL mail on the web, phone, tablet and computers wait for 5 to 10 mins before trying it again. Now try to clear your Outlook stored credentials open control panel, go to Credential Manager select Windows Credentials find anything labeled imap.aol.com, smtp.aol.com or Outlook, MSOffice, or MicrosoftOffice16 generic credentials remove them and restart the Outlook and try signing in again.

I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back

    Regards,

    Marcelo

If you're experiencing issues syncing your AOL email with Outlook, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check Your Password: Ensure that you are using the correct password for your AOL account. If you've recently changed your password, make sure to update it in Outlook as well.
    2. Use App-Specific Password: If you have two-step verification enabled on your AOL account, you may need to generate an app-specific password for Outlook. This password is different from your regular AOL password.
    3. Account Settings: Verify that your account settings in Outlook are correct. You can do this by going to the account settings and ensuring that the incoming and outgoing server settings for AOL are properly configured.
    4. Update Outlook: Ensure that your Outlook application is up to date. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs that may be causing issues with syncing.
    5. Repair Outlook: If the problem persists, consider repairing your Outlook installation. This can be done through the Control Panel under Programs and Features.
    6. Remove and Re-add Account: As a last resort, you can remove your AOL account from Outlook and then re-add it. This can sometimes resolve syncing issues.

If none of these steps work, you may want to check AOL's service status to see if there are any outages affecting email services.
