    Dear Om yadav

Thank you for your question and for sharing the details into Microsoft Q&A Forum.

I understand it can be frustrating when you want to reset your PC but a “recovery key” is requested and you don’t have it. At this point, I recommend that you review the information provided in the Independent Advisor’s answer on your thread. Those replies typically include the most relevant checks for this scenario.

To help narrow this down, could you please

    • Clarify what you mean by “Swayam recovery key”?
    • On the recovery screen, do you see “BitLocker” or “Device Encryption”
    • Are you using a personal Microsoft account or a work/school account on this PC?
    • Is this a personal device or a device managed by your company/school?

In many Windows 11 reset/recovery scenarios, the “recovery key” being requested is actually the BitLocker/Device Encryption recovery key (48 digits). You can try checking whether it was backed up to your Microsoft account. From another device, please go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey and sign in with the same Microsoft account used on the locked PC, then match the Key ID shown on the recovery screen to find the correct recovery key.

For more information, please visit Find your BitLocker recovery key - Microsoft Support

While our initial response may not fully resolve the issue, I truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together toward identifying the most effective solution. Thank you so much for your understanding.

If you are unable to provide the recovery key for your Windows 11 device, you will not be able to reset your PC using the standard recovery options. The recovery key is essential for accessing the recovery features, especially if your device is encrypted with BitLocker. Here are some steps you can take:

    1. Check for Backup: Ensure that you have checked all possible locations where the recovery key might be stored. This could include your Microsoft account, a USB drive, or printed documents.
    2. Use Recovery Options: If you cannot find the recovery key, you might need to consider other recovery options, such as using a recovery drive if you have created one previously.
    3. Contact Support: If you are still unable to reset your PC, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance. They may provide additional options based on your situation.

It's important to keep your recovery key safe for future use, as it is crucial for accessing recovery features in Windows.
