Hi @Matt Bettinson,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
Thank you for reaching out about setting reminders on emails in the New Outlook for Windows. I know how important it is to stay on top of follow‑ups, and I understand the inconvenience when familiar features seem harder to find, especially since the reminder options in the new Outlook experience work differently from the classic version.
There are still several effective ways to set up reminders for emails - both when you receive a message and after you send one. Here are some helpful steps you can take in the meantime:
A. For incoming emails (Received mail)
Option 1: Snooze the email to a specific date and time
Snooze temporarily hides the message and brings it back to your inbox at the exact time you choose, acting as a built‑in reminder.
- Right‑click the email (or use the Snooze button in the ribbon).
- Select Tomorrow, Next week, or Choose a date… for a custom reminder.
- The email moves to your Snoozed folder and will return to your Inbox at the selected time.
Snooze is available in both the new Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web.

Option 2: Flag the message and add a reminder in Microsoft To Do
Flagged emails automatically appear in Microsoft To Do, where you can set reminders and due dates.
- Flag the email in Outlook.
- Open Microsoft To Do using the same work account.
- Make sure the Flagged email list is enabled.
- Select the flagged item > choose Remind me or Add due date.
- When you’re ready to follow up, select Open in Outlook from the task.
Note: Your Flagged email list in To Do includes the most recent 100 flagged messages from the last 30 days and updates automatically as you flag new emails.

B. For emails you’ve sent (Follow‑up reminders for yourself)
Option 1: Flag it in Sent Items, then set the reminder in To Do
- Send the email.
- Open Sent Items and flag the message.
- Go to Microsoft To Do > Flagged email.
- Set a Remind me time or add a Due date for your follow‑up.
This replicates the functionality of the classic Outlook reminder workflow.
Option 2: Use Snooze when the reply arrives
If your reminder depends on waiting for a response:
- When the reply comes in, right‑click the message.
- Choose Snooze and select the time you want it returned to your inbox.
This keeps the conversation out of the way until you need to take action.
