Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.
When you redeem a Microsoft 365 code from a card, Microsoft usually asks you to add a payment method for future renewals. This does not mean you will be charged right away. It’s mainly for when your current paid period ends, so the subscription can continue automatically.
Even if you already paid for Microsoft 365, this can still appear during activation.
If you haven't tried anything yet please start by:
Make sure you are signed in with the same Microsoft account you used before:
- Sometimes, if a different account is used, Microsoft won’t recognize your existing subscription and may prompt for payment.
Check your subscription status:
- Visit: https://account.microsoft.com/services and see if your subscription shows as Active with an expiration date.
Redeem the code correctly:
- Please make sure you are redeeming the code at: https://redeem.microsoft.com
- After redeeming, it should extend your current subscription instead of charging you again.
Turn off recurring billing (if you don’t want automatic charges):
- After activation, you can go to “Manage” and disable recurring billing.
