MS site to download Azure Data Studio patch is down

I am trying to access a patch for Azure Data Studio from their CVE bulletin at: https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide/vulnerability/CVE-2024-26203

Any time I click on the link to download the updater .exe, I get a 403 error. I think their web app or IIS is down and they just need to restart it, but I don't have any direct contacts to fix this.

Path: Go to https://github.com/microsoft/azuredatastudio/releases/tag/1.48.0 and click on the link to download the Windows 64 bit User Installer here--> https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2261569 and it throws the 403 at https://azuredatastudio-update.azurewebsites.net/1.48.0/win32-x64-user/stable

Can someone just tell them to restart IIS on the download link?

Thanks!

    Hi Baum, Eric

It sounds like you're having trouble downloading the patch for Azure Data Studio due to a 403 error from the update link. Unfortunately, it might not be something a simple IIS restart can fix, especially since it seems there could be an issue with the web application or permissions.

Here are a few steps and alternatives you can try:

Alternate Download Links: Instead of downloading the patch directly from the CVE bulletin, you can access the latest version of Azure Data Studio via its official GitHub releases page.

Direct Installer: For version 1.48.0 or later to resolve CVE-2024-26203, you might want to try downloading directly from the Azure Data Studio install page.

Fallback to Previous Versions: If the 403 error persists and you urgently need to work, you could look for an older version of the installer until the patch is accessible.

Report the Issue: If you're still encountering problems, consider reporting the issue to Microsoft through their Azure Data Studio feedback page.

I understand how frustrating this can be. If you're still having trouble after trying these options, here are a few follow-up questions that might help narrow down the issue further:

    1. Are you able to access other resources on the same website, or is it only this particular download link that throws a 403 error?
    2. Have you tried accessing the download link from a different browser or network?
    3. Are you looking for a specific version of the patch, or would any version greater than 1.48.0 suffice for your needs?

Hope this helps you out! Let me know if you need any more assistance!

It seems that you are encountering a 403 error when trying to download the Azure Data Studio patch. This type of error typically indicates that access to the requested resource is forbidden, which could be due to various reasons such as server configuration issues or permissions settings.

Unfortunately, I cannot directly assist with contacting the team responsible for the Azure Data Studio downloads or restarting any services. However, you can report this issue through the Azure Data Studio feedback page to inform the team about the problem you are facing with the download link.

In the meantime, you can also check for any alternative download links or patches available on the official Azure Data Studio release notes page for any updates or fixes that might be available.
