Is there seriously no "Save all attachments" function in Outlook?

I sent myself a bunch of image files from my phone. The resulting message is several screens high.

The whole point of the message was to get the files onto the computer, but Outlook now lacks any apparent means of saving attachments. A quick search reveals a lot of incorrect claims about controls that don't exist.

WTH?

    Hi @G H S,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for sharing your experience with saving image attachments in the new Outlook for Windows.

From my testing, you can save documents by selecting Save All Attachments beneath the image files, or by choosing Save All to OneDrive.

If these options aren’t appearing on your side, feel free to let me know your New Outlook version so I can take a closer look.

As another option, you can use Outlook on the Web, where the Download all feature is available for saving your documents.

    Hi @G H S,

Thank you for confirming your build.

In the new Outlook for Windows, the attachment experience is closer to Outlook on the web and in some builds, the classic “Save All Attachments…” dialog is not exposed. That’s why you may not see Save all attached documents option.

Here are the reliable ways you can save your images right now:

Option 1: Use the attachment preview’s Save controls

    1. Open the email and select (or right‑click) an attachment to open its preview.
    2. At the top of the preview window, use Save as or Save to OneDrive.
    3. Repeat this for each attachment.

Option 2: Use Outlook on the web

If you open the same message in Outlook on the web, you can choose Download all to download a single .zip file containing all attachments. Then simply extract the images to your preferred folder.

Option 3: Switch back to Classic Outlook temporarily

You can switch to Classic Outlook, where the Save all attachments feature is still available. This allows you to save all files at once before returning to the new Outlook experience.

Yes, Outlook does have a "Save All Attachments" function, which allows you to save multiple attachments at once. You can access this feature by right-clicking on an attachment in the attachment well and selecting Save All, or by using the Save Attachments option in the File menu.

However, there are certain scenarios where this function may not work as expected, especially in older builds of Outlook. For instance, issues may arise when trying to save attachments to network locations or SharePoint online sites. If you're experiencing difficulties, it may be due to these known issues, and you might consider saving the attachments to a local location first and then moving them as needed.

If you're using a version of Outlook 365, updates have been made to improve the functionality of saving attachments, so ensuring that your Outlook is up to date could help resolve these issues.
