Startups: Companies that are in their initial stages of business and typically developing a business model and seeking financing.
Hi Shubhanshi,
Thanks for reaching out in Microsoft Q&A forum,
We are unable to spin-up the Power BI Service on our subscription. Please advise?
Power BI Service isn’t an Azure resource you “spin up” from the Azure portal like a VM or storage account. It’s a SaaS product (under Microsoft Fabric/Power BI) that’s activated through your Entra ID tenant and requires user licensing. Azure Startup credits do not automatically enable it.
- Start by going to powerbi.microsoft.com > Start free/Try free and sign in with the same work account that owns your Azure Startup subscription. This activates a 60-day Power BI Pro trial and enables the service for your tenant.
- Next, open admin.microsoft.com > Users > Licenses, assign the Power BI Pro (trial) license to yourself or your team, then sign in at app.powerbi.com. Workspaces, reports, and sharing should work immediately.
- If signup is blocked, your tenant likely has self-service restrictions. In that case, ask your admin to assign licenses manually or enable a Fabric/Power BI trial, or use Power BI Embedded (A-SKU) from Azure if you only need app embedding (covered by Startup credits).
