    Hi Krishna Kumar,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand Windows 11 Home is showing as not activated after a fresh installation and a BIOS update on your HP Omen 16.

Please make sure you already tried the Q&A Assist steps. In addition, please help me clarify:

    1. What is the exact activation error code shown on the Activation page (for example, 0xC004F…)?
    2. Did your HP Omen 16 come with Windows 11 Home preinstalled, or did you purchase a separate Windows product key?

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

1, Confirm the installed edition matches your license

    • Open Settings, System, Activation and check the Windows edition shown there. If your device has a Home license but Pro is installed (or vice‑versa), activation can fail until the editions match.

2, Make sure Windows 11 is fully up to date, then restart

    • Install all pending updates, restart the device, then re-check activation status. Microsoft notes activation troubleshooting improvements can depend on being on the latest Windows 11 build.

3, Use the Get Help app for automated activation diagnostics (different from the Settings troubleshooter flow)

    • Open the Get Help app, search for Windows activation, and run the guided diagnostics it offers for activation errors.

4, Check detailed licensing status to identify the licensing channel and any embedded error details

    • Open Command Prompt as administrator, run slmgr.vbs /dlv, then note the License Status, Description, and any error code shown in the dialog.

5, If your PC has an embedded OEM key, try activating with that key

    • If your device originally shipped with Windows, it may have an OEM key in firmware. Retrieve it (if available) and then use the Change product key option on the Activation page to enter it, then attempt activation again.

A BIOS update may cause WIndows to become deactivated, because some PC manufacturers BIOS updates cause the hardware ID of the processor to change, which causes the WIndows activation servers to think you have changed your hardware.

Try using the process Microsoft provide on this link to get your WIndows reactivated.

If your Windows 11 Home installation is showing as not activated after a fresh installation and a BIOS update, there are a few steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:

    1. Check Your Digital License: Ensure that your Windows 11 Home is linked to your Microsoft account. Sometimes, re-signing into your Microsoft account can help reactivate Windows automatically if it was previously activated on the same device.
    2. Run the Activation Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation, and select "Troubleshoot". This might help identify the issue and guide you through the reactivation process.
    3. Use Command Prompt: You can try to reactivate Windows using the Command Prompt. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command slmgr.vbs /ato to attempt activation.
    4. Contact Microsoft Support: If the above steps do not work, you may need to contact Microsoft Support for assistance. They can help you verify your digital license and guide you through the activation process.

It's important to note that if your Windows was upgraded from a previous version, there might be restrictions on reactivation after significant hardware changes.
