I need my emails checked by somebody as my hotmail account was compromised on friday 6th and an email was sent to all my contacts asking for vouchers saying they were me. I have changed my password but since this episode I can't receive emails. I have asked family members to email me to check but I have not received them. I need somebody to check my account to see why as this is my work and personal account.

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Do you still have access to your Microsoft account, and are you currently signed in?

Check if you still have access to your Microsoft account and make sure you're currently signed in https://account.microsoft.com/ If you’re locked out, let me know.

If you still have access, just to be safe, I’d recommend to sign out everywhere. Visit: https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional Scroll down to Sign me out and select "Sign me out".

In https://outlook.live.com/mail go to Settings > View all Outlook settings > Mail > Rules and Mail > Forwarding to make sure no one has set up rules to forward or delete your messages.

And changing your password again and enabling two-step verification if you haven’t already. This will add an extra layer of security to prevent future unauthorized access.

Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Regards,

    John J.D.

It sounds like your Hotmail account has been compromised and you are experiencing issues receiving emails. Here are some steps you can take to address the situation:

    1. Check for Suspicious Rules: Sign in to your Outlook account and check for any suspicious rules that may have been set up to divert your emails. Go to Settings → Mail → Rules and look for any rules that you did not create.
    2. Review Forwarding Settings: Ensure that there are no unknown forwarding addresses set up that could be redirecting your emails. You can find this under Settings → Mail → Forwarding.
    3. Account Recovery: Since you've already changed your password, consider using the Microsoft account recovery options available. Make sure to use any recovery options such as alternate email addresses or phone numbers that you may have set up.
    4. Contact Microsoft Support: If you are still unable to receive emails, it may be necessary to contact Microsoft Support directly for assistance. They can help you with account recovery and may have additional tools to verify your identity.
    5. Monitor Account Activity: If you regain access, check your account activity for any unauthorized changes or settings that you did not set up.
    6. Secure Your Account: Once you regain access, immediately change your password to a strong, unique one, and enable two-factor authentication (2FA) again. Ensure that your recovery options are up to date.
    7. Inform Your Contacts: Notify your contacts about the compromise to prevent them from falling victim to any phishing attempts from your account.

Following these steps should help you regain control of your account and resolve the email receiving issues you are experiencing.
