Additional meeting and call-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for business
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand how this behavior can be confusing, particularly when you expect a meeting link to be generated immediately after scheduling.
Based on the current design of Microsoft Teams, this is actually an expected behavior. When a meeting is created with only the organizer and no additional participants, Teams does not generate a join link right away. The meeting link is created automatically once at least one attendee is added.
In essence, Teams treats a meeting that includes only the organizer as a draft. As soon as an invitee is added, the meeting becomes “joinable,” and the meeting link is generated accordingly. This behavior is by design rather than an error.
If you need a scheduled meeting link:
- Add at least one attendee (many users add a placeholder, such as their own email address), and then select Send.
- Afterward, reopen the meeting from your Teams calendar and use Copy join link (or Copy link) to share it.
Reference: Schedule a meeting in Microsoft Teams.
If you simply need a link to share without inviting anyone yet:
A common workaround is to use Meet now, which generates a meeting link immediately. Alternatively, you can add a placeholder attendee solely to trigger link generation.
I hope this helps clarify what you’re experiencing. Please feel free to follow up if you have any additional questions or need further clarification.
I look forward to hearing from you.
