Hi lucy L,
Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand the frustration when you just want to install a game and the system keeps blocking you. This behavior is usually caused by a local Windows or app configuration issue, and here are the possible checking steps that you can try in this case:
1 - Reinstall Gaming Services
- Open Terminal (Admin) or PowerShell (Admin)
- Run:
get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
- Reinstall Gaming Services from the Microsoft Store
- Restart your PC 2 - Reset the Store and Xbox app
- Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps
- Select Microsoft Store > Advanced options > Repair, then Reset
- Repeat the same steps for the Xbox app
3 - Set the app install drive at the system level
- Go to Settings > System > Storage
- Select Advanced storage settings > Where new content is saved
- Set New apps will save to your preferred drive
- Select Apply, then restart once more
4 - Let the Xbox app create the game folder
- Open the Xbox app
- Go to Settings > Install options
- Choose the drive and allow the app to automatically create the
XboxGamesfolder
After these steps, return to the Microsoft Store and retry installing Minecraft for Windows.
