When trying to download minecraft I am told to change my drive on the microsoft store, only for it to never accept/save my changes.

On the Xbox app, there's a similar issue where it doesn't accept the "XboxGames" folder. in fact when i attempted trouble shooting, there wasn't even the option to select folders.

I've tried the basic troubleshooting already at this point and I just want to play minecraft man.

    Hi lucy L,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand the frustration when you just want to install a game and the system keeps blocking you. This behavior is usually caused by a local Windows or app configuration issue, and here are the possible checking steps that you can try in this case:

    1 - Reinstall Gaming Services

    • Open Terminal (Admin) or PowerShell (Admin)
    • Run:
    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
    start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

    • Reinstall Gaming Services from the Microsoft Store
    • Restart your PC 2 - Reset the Store and Xbox app
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps
    • Select Microsoft Store > Advanced options > Repair, then Reset
    • Repeat the same steps for the Xbox app

3 - Set the app install drive at the system level

    • Go to Settings > System > Storage
    • Select Advanced storage settings > Where new content is saved
    • Set New apps will save to your preferred drive
    • Select Apply, then restart once more

4 - Let the Xbox app create the game folder

    • Open the Xbox app
    • Go to Settings > Install options
    • Choose the drive and allow the app to automatically create the XboxGames folder

After these steps, return to the Microsoft Store and retry installing Minecraft for Windows.
