Dear Kevin Burke
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum. To better understand what’s happening, could you please share a screenshot of the area where you’re unable to type in the body of a new email in the New Outlook for Windows 11? This will help I see exactly what you’re seeing and guide you more accurately.
In the meantime, please try the following steps:
- Force-close New Outlook, then reopen
- Right-click Start > Task Manager > select Microsoft Outlook > End task > reopen new Outlook.
- Uninstall and reinstall “new Outlook for Windows” (clean app state)
- Uninstall : Start menu > find “new Outlook for Windows” > expand options > Uninstall.
- Reinstall : open classic Outlook for Windows and use the “Try the new Outlook” toggle to download/switch back to new Outlook.
- Use a supported alternate client path for composing new messages : Use classic Outlook . If you want to validate whether this is only the New Outlook app editor surface (not your account), also test composing in Outlook on the web.
- Ensure you are on the latest New Outlook servicing level
