I received an email stating a request to replace my security info was submitted. It is being sent to an email that does not belong to me in 30 days.

I was able to change my password but I cannot find the request to cancel anywhere in my security settings.

Hi, I'm Bernard, a fellow Windows user. I'm happy to help!

To change security options, kindly follow the steps below:

Add the new phone to be your authenticator:

    Go to this link: https://account.microsoft.com/security

Select "Add a new way to sign in or verify"

Click "Use an app" and follow the prompts to add the autnticator app.

However, if you cannot sign in to your account:

    Go to: https://account.live.com/

Log in to your account and choose "I can’t use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now."

Then it will provide you with a different option to get the code to sign in, such as a text message or email.

If the issue persists, you may reach Microsoft Accounts and Billing support by following the steps below:

    Go to this link: https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact

In the search bar, type in your issue, then hit enter.

Scroll down to the bottom and select the blue button "Contact Support"

If you received an email about a request to replace your security info and you did not initiate this request, it's important to act quickly. Since you have already changed your password, you should also take the following steps:

    1. Check Security Settings: Log into your Microsoft account and navigate to the security settings. Look for any options related to security info or account recovery. If you see the request to replace security info, there should be an option to cancel it.
    2. Sign Out Everywhere: Use the "Sign out everywhere" option in your account security settings to terminate any active sessions that might be compromised.
    3. Review Account Activity: Check for any suspicious activity in your account, such as unfamiliar sign-ins or changes to your account settings.
    4. Contact Microsoft Support: If you cannot find the option to cancel the request or if you are still concerned about your account security, reach out to Microsoft Support for assistance. They can provide guidance on how to secure your account further.

Taking these steps can help you regain control of your account and prevent unauthorized access in the future.
