    Hi Dilip Manohar,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand the latest Windows updates do not install successfully and your PC keeps going through a remove and reinstall loop.

Please make sure you already tried the Q&A Assist steps. In addition, please try the following.

Which update KB number keeps failing in your update history, and what error code is shown for the failed install? Is this a personal Windows 11 PC, or is it managed by an organization (work/school device policies)?

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

1, Disconnect non-essential peripherals and try updating again

    • Unplug any USB drives, memory cards, printers, and docking stations
    • Restart the PC and try Windows Update again

2, Run the Windows Update troubleshooter from Get Help

    • Open Get Help and run the Windows Update troubleshooter, then restart and retry Windows Update

3, Use Fix problems using Windows Update to repair the current Windows installation

    • Open Settings, then System, then Recovery
    • Under Fix problems using Windows Update, select Reinstall now, keep the device connected to power and internet, then restart and check Windows Update again

4, Install the failing update manually using the Microsoft Update Catalog

    • Identify the failing KB in your update history
    • Download and install the same KB from the Microsoft Update Catalog, then restart and re-check Windows Update Disclaimer: This link does not support your language. Please use a browser translation tool to engage with the content.

5, If the loop continues, do a repair install that keeps apps and files

    • Use the Windows 11 in-place repair option that preserves apps and files, then retry Windows Update

If your Windows installation is stuck in a loop of removal and reinstallation of updates, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

    1. Check Update History: First, check your update history to identify any updates that have failed to install. You can do this by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history.
    2. Remove Problematic Updates: If you identify any updates that are causing issues, you can remove them. To do this, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Uninstall updates. Select the problematic update and uninstall it.
    3. Run Windows Update Troubleshooter: Use the built-in Windows Update troubleshooter to automatically find and fix problems. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Windows Update.
    4. Reset Windows Update Components: If the problem persists, you may need to reset the Windows Update components. This can be done through an administrative Command Prompt by executing several commands to stop services, delete temporary files, and restart services.
    5. Check for Corruption: If you suspect corruption in the update files, you can run the System File Checker (SFC) and DISM commands to repair any corrupted system files. Open an administrative Command Prompt and run:
      • sfc /scannow
      • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    6. Reinstall Updates: After performing the above steps, try to reinstall the updates again. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consider more advanced troubleshooting or contacting Microsoft Support for further assistance.
