Technical Issue: Messages stuck in Teams Desktop App

I have a PC with the latest version of Teams installed (as of 11/02/2026) that is unable to send messages.

Messages remain stuck without the 'sent' checkmark. The user has to constantly restart Teams to send them, and even then, it doesn't always work.

I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps without success:

Cleared the cache, but it didn't resolve the issue.

Checked the Credential Manager, but there are no saved passwords.

Performed a Repair of the Teams app.

The issue seems to be limited to the Teams desktop app only.

There aren't any update for the app
Anyone else having this issue?

    Hello @William Caruso

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Community!

Thank you for trying the initial troubleshooting steps. To make sure we’re fully aligned, could you please help confirm the exact steps you followed for each item below?

    1. Clearing the Teams Cache

Please confirm whether you closed Teams completely from the system tray (not just the window) outlined in the official article Clear the Teams client cache - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn, then removed the cache files from: %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams

or, for the New Teams client, the folder: %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams

    2. Checking Credential Manager

Please confirm if you checked Windows Credentials and verified that no entries existed under names such as:

    • MicrosoftTeams
    • MSTeams
    • office.com
    • live.com

     3. Repairing the Teams App

Kindly confirm that you performed the Repair following the article Repair an Office application - Microsoft Support via Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Teams > Advanced Options > Repair

Since the issue is still happening despite performing the above steps, the next recommended action is to test Teams under a new Windows user profile.  Corrupted local identity data or persistent cache/authentication issues inside a specific Windows profile can cause Teams messages to remain stuck and fail to sync properly which is an issue noted in multiple public cases.

Kindly follow this article Manage User Accounts in Windows - Microsoft Support to:

    1. Create a new local Windows user account
    2. Sign into that new profile
    3. Install or launch Teams
    4. Try sending a message and see if the issue persists

If messages send normally from the new profile, we’ll know the problem is isolated to the original Windows user environment.

Please let me know once you’ve confirmed the steps above or if you’d like guidance on creating the new test profile. I’m here to help!
