Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Hi Yvonne Blank,
Good day. I'm Jhun an independent advisor. In regards with your Microsoft 365 issue, it sounds like your Microsoft 365 app on your tablet is not recognizing that you already have a subscription.
Try to do these steps below and see if it will fix the problem.
A. Sign in with your existing account.
- Open the Microsoft 365 app, Word, Excel, or the main Microsoft 365 app on your tablet.
- Look for a “Sign in” link instead of “Start free trial.” Sometimes it’s small text under the free trial button.
- Enter the same Microsoft account you use on your computer, the one tied to your subscription.
- Important: If you accidentally tap “Start free trial,” the app may try to start a new trial instead of recognizing your existing subscription.
B. Check subscription recognition.
- After signing in, the app should detect your active Microsoft 365 license.
- You’ll then have full editing capabilities, not just view mode.
C. If it still asks for a trial, Make sure your app is up to date from the Google Play Store. Sign out and back in, sometimes the app needs a fresh sign-in to detect your subscription. Ensure the Microsoft account you’re using is the one with a subscription. A common mistake is using a personal account vs. a work/school account.
D. As an alternative method, Install the Office app, all-in-one, instead of separate Word/Excel apps. Sign in with your account there, it usually recognizes subscriptions more reliably.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Jhun
