Goodmorning, I hope all is well. I am not able to get inside of my school email. My school email is connect to outlook. In order to get inside of my school email I have to download an app called Microsoft Authenticator app to prevent the scams from getting inside my email. As I am on the app it tells me to enter a code but a code is never sent to my phone. This has been an issue for a while and seeking for help.

Unfortunately, I do not have access to my old phone number that might be on file on my school account information. Thank you so much for the advice I definitely appreciate it.

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing  your question. I understand that you are unable to access your school email because the Microsoft Authenticator app is asking for a verification code that never arrives.

I know how frustrating this can be, especially when you rely on your school account for important work.

This issue usually happens when the Authenticator app or your sign-in method was not fully set up, or when the system is still trying to send approval requests to an old device that is no longer available.

To resolve this, you will need your school’s IT administrator to reset your Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA) settings from their end. Once they reset it, you can sign in again and set up the Microsoft Authenticator app properly. This is the only way to regain access when codes are not being sent to your phone.

May I ask if you still have access to an alternate email or phone number that your school may have on file?

Please feel free to follow up with me anytime if you need help drafting a message to your IT department or if you want guidance on setting up the Authenticator app once your MFA is reset. I’m here to help.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel

If you are not receiving the code on your phone to access your school email via the Microsoft Authenticator app, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check your phone settings: Ensure that your phone is set up to receive text messages and that there are no blocks on your number from receiving messages from unknown senders.
    2. Try multiple attempts: Microsoft suggests that users attempt to request the code up to five times within five minutes. This can sometimes help if there are temporary issues with the service.
    3. Use alternative verification methods: If you have set up other options for security verification, select Other verification options when prompted and try again using a different method.
    4. Contact your school’s IT support: Since this is a school email, it may be best to reach out to your school's IT department. They can check if your account is configured correctly and if there are any issues on their end.
    5. Check for third-party app interference: Sometimes, third-party security apps can block verification messages. If you have such apps installed, consider disabling them temporarily.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to ask your school’s administrator to reset your MFA settings so you can set up the Authenticator app again.
