I bought this Dell All in one PC over a year ago. Worked fine for a few months and then we stopped using it. Now after sitting for 6 months the screen says ACTIVATE WINDOWS. I found the product key but when I enter it now it shows invalid? What can I do? I don't want to spend $199 for a new version of windows. The computer rarely gets used.

Can you please type cmd in the search on the taskbar and hit enter to launch command prompt, then run the following command:

    slmgr /dlv

Then share a screenshot please. Thanks!

If your Windows 10 product key is showing as invalid, there are a few steps you can take:

    1. Check the Key: Ensure that you are entering the product key correctly. Sometimes, typos or incorrect characters can lead to an invalid key error. If you are copying and pasting the key, make sure that no extra spaces or characters are included.
    2. Digital License: If your PC was previously activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account, try signing in with that account. This may automatically reactivate Windows without needing to enter the product key again.
    3. Contact Support: If the key is still not working, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for assistance. They may be able to help you verify the key or provide alternatives.
    4. Activation Troubleshooter: You can also try running the Windows Activation Troubleshooter. This can sometimes resolve issues with activation if there have been hardware changes or if the system is having trouble recognizing the key.
    5. OEM Key: If your PC came with Windows pre-installed (OEM), the product key might be embedded in the firmware. In this case, you might not need to enter it manually, and the system should activate automatically once connected to the internet.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may need to consider purchasing a new license, but it's worth exhausting the troubleshooting options first.
