How can I restore the Record & Transcribe toggle button so that it's immediately visible when setting up a new event/meeting in MS Teams

Teams has recently updated and I can find an option (as was there before) to roll back to the previous format/interface. My preference for the old version was primarily due to the fact that, when I set up meetings, I had immediate access to enable auto recording, something that is a key function of my role. Since the update, I now have to go into each individual meeting options menu to enable it. Is there anyway to either roll-back once again to the old interface, or restore the quick access record button?

Thank you.

    Hi @Iain Nevins

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out and for clearly outlining your concern. I understand how important the automatic recording feature is for your workflow.

The behavior you are experiencing is the result of the transition to the new Microsoft Teams client. Microsoft has officially retired Classic Teams in most environments, and the option to roll back to the previous interface is no longer available. This change is part of Microsoft’s modernization of the Teams platform.

In the new Teams experience, certain meeting settings, including “Record automatically”, have been moved into the Meeting options menu. As a result, this setting now needs to be enabled individually for each meeting unless an alternative configuration is used.

At this stage, you have two possible options:

    1. Manually enable auto recording per meeting
When scheduling a meeting, open Meeting options and toggle Record automatically before saving.
    2. Use Meeting Templates (requires Teams Premium license)
With a Teams Premium license, you can create a meeting template that has automatic recording enabled by default. This allows you to apply the template when scheduling meetings, eliminating the need to configure the setting each time.

As I understand how important this functionality is for your workflow, I recommend submitting feedback directly to Microsoft via the Feedback Portal to help prioritize this feature in future updates.
